Here is a quick reference guide from the Department of Health and Human Services that deals with " Acute Low Back Problems in Adults."

Conservative low back management is the order of the day. Skilled spinal manipulation, which has a history of empirical success, has recently been validated.

What chiropractic is:

1. Neuromusculoskeletal
2. Manipulate biomechanical aberrations of joints, especially the spine (adjust subluxations)
3. Associated soft tissue work
4. Physiotherapy

What it isn't:

1. We don't treat infectious disease, cancer, etc. (some MD's think we claim to do this)
2. We don't believe that all health problems are due to spinal subluxations.
